As the hype for SSB4 builds up, a new mini game was just announced by Sakurai, game developer of the Super Smash Bros. series. This new game mode is called "Trophy Rush". I will be discussing this new mini game and analyzing the "sneak peek" that was posted on Miiverse and the SSB4 website by Mr. Sakurai. Now, let's begin!
First things first- analyzing the photo. The first thing you probably noticed were the the boxes/bricks. From what I know, the player will probably have to smash the crate multiple times for it open. The wooden crates will probably be easy to destroy and the brick crates will most likely take longer to destroy. You also probably noticed the blue/green pentagon-shaped crate that has a wrench symbol on it. I'm guessing if you destroy this crate you will get an item(such as a baseball bat) to use to destroy the other crates. New boxes fall down every so often.
The next thing I noticed was the points that were being earned and the bar in the top left corner. If you look above Pikachu's head you notice that it says: "6 Chain + 60". I believe there is some kind of combo that you can get from smashing the crates in a certain amount of time. If you get a combo (AKA "chain") you will probably get points in increments of 10(Ex; combo of 6 boxes x 10 points). However, if you just hit a single box you only get 5 points. Next, as I mentioned earlier, the bar in the top right corner. The bar is about halfway filled and above it is the number 180. You probably have to achieve a certain amount of points before your time is up(time counter is in the top left corner). Also, I believe to make things more challenging, the boxes can not stack up above the blue line.
Now, this next and final part wasn't shown in the picture but it is what I believe will happen. After you complete the level successfully, you will have a chance to unlock a trophy by doing a special battle with one other player. Its either this or you simply obtain the trophy after completing the level.
Well, that's all that we know so far about the new mini game from this "Pic of the Day" that Sakurai recently posted. Thanks for reading my latest news article and make sure to spread the word of my website! Until then, stay tuned for more Nintendo News and Reviews!
*Trophy Run will only be on the 3DS version of SSB4 *
*SSB4 for 3DS will be released October 3rd in retail and on the Nintendo eShop*
