The popular "sandbox" game, Minecraft, has been having lots of buzz about Minecraft coming to the Wii U/3DS. Today, I will be covering all the latest news about this interesting topic and sharing my opinion on Minecraft being ported to the Wii U/3DS. Now, let's begin!
As many of you may know, Minecraft is a game where you live in a vast world of blocks. You can mine stuff and craft stuff(hence the name Minecraft).Minecraft has been on/or is coming to many platforms(PC, tablets, XBox one/360, e.t.c)except for one- Wii U. Many people(including me) believe that Minecraft would be perfect for the Wii U or 3DS. On the Wii U the gamepad would include the inventory/crafting. On the 3DS, the bottom screen would also include the inventory/crafting. Anyways, when Shigeru Miyamoto(Game designer and producer for Nintendo) was asked about Minecraft here is what he said:
"I haven’t played it myself, but I have heard quite a bit about it, I think [Shinya] Takahashi knows more about it than I do. But I like that style of game, and I look at Mario Maker as being something in a similar vein. Our hardware is the only hardware that you can do both the touch control and stick control. Maybe we’re meeting with them! Who knows?”

Now, this interview left us off with a cliff hanger- is Nintendo meeting with Mojang to discuss Minecraft for Wii U/3DS? Miyamoto stated that "Our hardware is the only hardware that you can do both the touch control and stick control." As you can see,Miyamoto was referring to the Nintendo Wii U gamepad feature and how it would fit perfectly for Minecraft on the Wii U. After Miyamoto spoke, Shinya Takahashi(part of Nintendo's software team) was asked about development of Minecraft on the Nintendo Wii U/3DS:
“We’ve always thought internally that using the [Wii U] GamePad would probably make for a Minecraft that’s very easy to play. And, of course, if we were to do something with Minecraft on the 3DS, similarly we would probably do it where it would be easier to play and could probably reach a lot of kids. What’s interesting is that, in Japan, Minecraft is not popular in the way it is in the U.S. and Europe, so we’ve also thought that, if we were able to do a partnership like that, it might bring opportunity to help make Minecraft more popular in Japan.”

I have to point out that Takahashi make a great point here: Making Minecraft on Wii U/3DS would make Minecraft a popular game in Japan. After all, Japan's Wii U sales have been going up since the release of Mario Kart 8. That was all for the interview with Miyamoto and Takahashi from the Kotaku interview. Now, time for my opinions on Minecraft being ported to Wii U/3DS!
First of all, Minecraft on all consoles together has sold more than 54 million copies! Imagine how the sales would skyrocket if Minecraft was ported to Wii U/3DS. I think this would be a wonderful idea for both Nintendo and Mojang and would would help boost sales of Wii U/3DS. Well, that's all for today folks!
